ONE LESS THING TO KEEP IN YOUR HEAD

Your moving checklist

A practical checklist from decision day to the first night. Save progress for this browser or print a copy.

THE FIVE-MINUTE VERSION

Work backward from your confirmed possession date. Set the budget and address checks first, then arrange movers and service transfers, prepare a first-night kit, and document the home on arrival. The checklist saves progress for this browser using an essential cookie.

Build around the date you can enter

A closing, lease start, delivery window, and key handoff are not always the same moment. Confirm when you can occupy the property and what happens if that changes. Avoid scheduling every service on the assumption that access will be available at the start of the day.

Keep your move records together

Keep signed agreements, inventory, photos, provider confirmations, and contact details in a private folder you can reach from your phone. Carry identity documents and valuables with you. Never put account credentials into a public checklist or a moving company’s inventory notes.

After the truck leaves

Check deliveries and document any damage promptly under the relevant agreement. Confirm that essential services work, and keep a short list of unresolved maintenance items. Then move to the new resident checklist for Indiana paperwork and local setup.
