Start with current employer career pages and confirm the work site, schedule, pay, benefits, and relocation terms. Fort Wayne sits within a broader regional economy; a regional employer list does not mean every listed job is in the city or hiring now.
Understand the employer landscape
Healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, financial services, and other sectors appear in regional economic-development resources. Use those lists to identify organizations, then move to the organization’s own career page for current openings and requirements.
Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network provide direct routes to careers on their official sites. The Greater Fort Wayne Inc. directory is another discovery tool. Membership or appearance in a directory is not a recommendation about working conditions.

A second life for a Fort Wayne landmark. Electric Works on Broadway is a useful example of changing workplaces; check the employer’s actual entrance and current openings.

- The exact work location, including training, rotating assignments, or multiple campuses.
- Typical start and finish times, weekend requirements, overtime expectations, and schedule changes.
- Base compensation, variable pay, benefits start date, insurance network, and retirement contributions.
- Any relocation reimbursement, repayment clause, probationary terms, or deadline for accepting.
- Licensing, background checks, or other conditions that must be complete before a confirmed start.
A campus name is not a commute
Ask which entrance, building, or parking area you will use. Then compare homes using that destination at your expected shift time. A map centered on “Fort Wayne” can hide the difference between a northern campus, a southwest location, and a downtown office.
For households with two work locations, plot both before choosing a midpoint. Add childcare drop-off or other regular stops. A mathematically central home is not always the most practical one.

If you work remotely
Confirm in writing that your employer permits work from Indiana and whether the move affects payroll, benefits, travel, or office attendance. Check internet availability at the specific address and think through a backup for service interruptions.
Do not assume your current salary or arrangement will remain unchanged after relocating. Build the budget with the terms you have actually confirmed, and include trips to the office if they remain part of the role.
Why we do not publish a live “top employers” ranking
Employer counts and geographic scopes change. The regional major-employers source consulted for this guide identifies Q1 2021 underlying employment data. We use it for orientation and do not present those counts as current headcounts or current openings. A dated table is less useful than a direct route to a real opportunity.

Start with where you work.
These are geographic starting points for a route comparison. They are not recommendations about who belongs in an area. Test each journey at your shift time, including the return trip.
